Write for the stated goal

Rhetorical synthesis asks you to select facts for a specific writing goal. Accurate extra facts can still be irrelevant.

01 / THE METHOD

Make it repeatable

  1. Read the goal before the notes.
  2. Circle only facts needed to meet the goal.
  3. Check names, dates, comparisons, and logical order.
  4. Choose a sentence that fulfills the goal without unsupported additions.

Goal: introduce an architect and the year her museum opened. Notes: Ada Chen designed a museum; it opened in 2018; she also paints.
  1. Needed: name, role, opening year.
  2. Not needed: painting hobby.
  3. Build a sentence connecting those facts.

“Architect Ada Chen designed a museum that opened in 2018.”
