A graph is another form of a relationship. The slope is change per unit; the intercept is the starting value.
Make it repeatable
- Read the axis labels and units.
- Find the y-intercept at x = 0.
- Compute slope as rise divided by run.
- Interpret both in the problem context.
Watch the method in action
A savings graph starts at $30 and rises by $10 each week.
- Intercept: $30 before any week passes.
- Slope: $10 per week.
- Model: y = 30 + 10x.
After four weeks, savings are $70.
