Compare two viewpoints precisely

When two texts address the same topic, track where their claims agree and where their reasons differ.

Make it repeatable

  1. Summarize Text 1 in one line.
  2. Summarize Text 2 in one line.
  3. Mark agreement, disagreement, or a qualification.
  4. Choose a response that represents both writers accurately.
02 / WORKED EXAMPLE

Watch the method in action

Text 1 says urban trees lower summer temperatures. Text 2 agrees but notes that tree placement changes the size of the effect.
  1. Shared claim: trees can cool.
  2. Difference: Text 2 adds a condition about placement.
  3. Reject any option saying Text 2 denies cooling.

Text 2 qualifies Text 1 rather than contradicting it.
